Borth-y-Guest and Morfa Bychan

Borth-y-Guest is a small, unspoiled village on the bank of the Glaslyn estuary. It can be reached on foot by a path from the far end of the Porthmadog quayside, or by road from the centre of the town. Beyond the village there are fine walks leading to a series of small coves, and excellent views towards Portmeirion and across the bay to Harlech.

Morfa Bychan is a small village a short way past Borth-y-Guest, and about 2 miles by road from the centre of Porthmadog. From the village, a road leads to the "drive on" beach, known as Black Rock sands. Adjoining the beach is the Greenacres Caravan park. The beach is ideal for families, with dunes, a long, sandy beach, caves at the western end, together with excellent views across the bay. At low tide it is possible to walk along the shoreline to Criccieth. The English meaning of the name Morfa Bychan is "Little Marsh".
