OLD HILL
is a town in the heart of the Black Country, in the West Midlands. Traditionally it
is part of Staffordshire. Historically, the local economy was based on Heavy Engineering and
"Metal Bashing". But the major employers such as Joseph
Shakespeare, Eliza Tinsley, and Holden & Hunt are
all long gone. The present population is approximately 240,000. CRADLEY HEATH is approximately 2 miles to the south of Old Hill.. Historically, it was famous for nailmaking. Several engineering businesses have survived. It was also the home of "Cradley Heath Heathans", Notor cycle team. |
