Palma
is the major city and port on the island of Mallorca (Majorca), and
capital city of the Balearic Islands in Spain. It has a population of
over 500,000, and tourism has transformed the city into a major Holiday
destination. It also has Sant Joan Airport, and an important commercial
port. It is a modern, vibrant city, but retains it's Old Town.
Attractions are the Royal Palace, the Cathedral, Castle of Belliver, the
Stock Exchange, the Town Hall, and the Arab Baths. |

Unfortunately, there was no time to visit the city of Palma, and the
above photographs were taken through the window of the coach
transferring us from the Airport to the Cruise ship, and from the top
deck of Ocean Village 2 before and during it's departure. The Thomas
Cook Aircraft, a Boeing 757, is shown at Palma Airport prior to the
return journey. Both outward and return flights were unpleasant affairs,
with emphasis on maximum number of seats rather than comfort. |
