Montreux
is situated on the North East shore of Lake Geneva. It has a splendid
flower lined lakeside walk that starts at Chillon and ends at Vevey.
Regular boat services run to a variety of lakeside towns. The town hosts
the annual Montreux Jazz Festival, and a statue of Freddy Mercury
overlooks the lake. Several Mountain and Cog Railways run from Montreux
station, which is on the main line between Geneva and Brig. There are
frequent services to Lausanne, Geneva, Brig, and Northern Italy..
