Interlaken & Beausite Hotel

INTERLAKEN lies, as its name suggests, between two lakes. Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. In the heart of the Bernese Oberland, it is an ideal centre for exploring the Jungfraugoch and the many surrounding Alpine Villages and Towns. The whole area is well served by an efficient system of connecting trains, lake steamers, and funiculars.

This was our second visit, the first being in 1981. We arrived onThursday 30th May 2002, for a one week stay. Our Hotel, the Beausite, was situated in Untenseen, the oldest part of Interlaken, a few minutes walk from the town centre. Our bedroom, at the front of the hotel, overlooked the terrace, and had excellent views of the Jungfrau.

Interlaken had changed considerably since our previous visit 21 years earlier. No longer the typical Swiss holiday resort, but a thriving multi-cultural town, which meant a variety of Italian, Chinese, and Japanese restaurants. Much to our liking.

Below can be seen several photos of the River Aare, with pleasant walks on either side, together with views of the town, including the Japanese Garden, the Open parkland, the West Railway station, and two of the Restaurants where we ate out.
