RIVA del GARDA

Riva del Garda is one of lake's leading resorts and is situated at it's northern tip. It dates back to Roman times with town walls and a 12th century fortress. It retains an old world charm and fishing/trading port atmosphere and is also a leading watersports resort.

  GARDONE

Gardone nestles in a sheltered bay on the eastern of the lake. It is an unspoiled resort with a real Italian atmosphere and charm, with an abundance of plant life and sub tropical shrubs. The small shopping area is traffic free and the waterfront has a selection of pavement cafes and bars. Nearby are the Hruska Botanical Gardens.

  SALO

Salo is situated across the bay from Gardone and is a charming town with a historical centre, smart shops, and a large Saturday market. The promenade and gardens are lined with terrace bars and cafes.

The full day excursion "Tour of Lake Garda", made an early start from Bardolino, picking up extra passengers at Garda, Torri de Benaco, Brenzone and Malcesine. Our first visit was a short one, of less than an hour, at RIVA del GARDA. We then continued round the north western part of the lake, passing through Limone, Campione, and Maderno, before the next stop, at GARDONE. From here we caught the boat which took us on to SIRMIONE, before returning by coach towards home, with a short stop at LAZISE

Later in the week, we took the boat from Bardolino to SALO for the afternoon, and returned by hydrofoil. It was a most pleasant town and we walked the length of the promenade and explored the shopping area.
